A well-known figure, Mary Lou Retton created history at the 1984 Summer Olympics in Los Angeles while competing for Team USA as a gymnast. He received the A’s gold and gold medals for his amazing vault and floor, solidifying his legacy in American sports history. She later starred on Wheaties cans and was voted Sports Illustrated’s Female Athlete of the Year.
McKenna Kelly, Retton’s daughter, just revealed the tragic news on her Instagram Story. In the intensive care unit, the legendary gymnast is currently struggling for her life (ICU).
Kelly stated that her mother is unable to breathe on her own due to a very uncommon type of pneumonia. For more than a week, I have been receiving medical attention from committed personnel.
Kelly declined to provide any information, citing Retton’s right to privacy. But she said the hospital fees go up quickly because her mother does not have insurance.
Kelly has established a fund and is humbly asking anyone who may assist in raising money for the hospital costs to help lessen the financial strain. He asked for two easy things to do: pray and add money to the account.
Even after giving up gymnastics in 1986, Retton remained well-known. She has appeared in guest spots on popular television programs like Glee and Baywatch, and she even participated in the 27th season of Dancing with the Stars.
How long Retton will be in the hospital is still unknown. The International Gymnastics Hall of Fame officially inducted the well-known athlete who brought joy to the four girls.
